So I just finished the 5 tvd books

A brief statement of my feelings ——

So first of all this is really weird for me, totally out of my normal genre, so I was already dealing with that. (Victorian lit primarily is my cup of tea). Anyway, so yeah they were alright. The first 3 are practically 1 book, no real defining moments between them I thought. The 4th was my least favorite. It felt forced and unnecessary, there  was plenty of closure with the end of the 3rd. However, the 5th was probably the best and it couldn’t have happened if the 4th didn’t. The main problem I had was that they all felt rushed. Like there wasn’t proper and full explanations for events as they occurred, especially in the 5th. About every other page in the 5th I had to reread because I thought I missed something, but in actuality it wasn’t there. It just made it very confusing and hard to picture.

However faulty the mechanics might have been, I still liked them and they were a nice departure from the strictly academic reading I’ve been doing.

I will say I like the show more though. Much more character development and fully hashed out arcs and storylines.

And that’s it in super briefness
